How It Works

Dr. Horowitz's Unique 5-Step Process

A thorough, evidence-based process that treats the source of your pain — not just the symptoms.

01

Initial Consultation

Dr. Horowitz begins with a thorough health history review and discussion of your symptoms, lifestyle, and footwear habits to understand the full picture.

02

Postural & Gait Assessment

A full postural evaluation and gait analysis identifies biomechanical imbalances from your feet up through your spine.

03

Foot Examination

A detailed examination of your feet, arches, and lower limbs assesses range of motion, muscle strength, and structural alignment.

04

Custom Foot Casting / Scan

A precise cast or digital scan of your feet captures the exact contours needed to fabricate orthotics tailored to your unique biomechanics.

05

Fitting & Follow-Up

Once your custom orthotics arrive (2–3 weeks), Dr. Horowitz fits and adjusts them to ensure optimal comfort and function.

FAQ

Common Questions

How long does it take to get custom orthotics?

After your foot assessment and scan, custom orthotics typically take 2–3 weeks to fabricate. Dr. Horowitz will fit and adjust them at a follow-up appointment.

Are custom orthotics covered by insurance?

Most extended health benefit plans cover custom orthotics with a prescription from a registered chiropractor or physician. We provide all necessary documentation and receipts for your claim.

What is the difference between half-length and full-length orthotics?

Half-length orthotics support the heel and arch and are ideal for dress shoes or tighter footwear. Full-length orthotics extend to the toes and provide more comprehensive support — great for athletic shoes and everyday wear.

Can children get custom orthotics?

Yes. Custom orthotics are beneficial for children with flat feet, in-toeing, or growing pains. Early intervention can prevent long-term postural and gait problems.

Does Dr. Horowitz offer chiropractic adjustments at Locus Health?

At Locus Health Centre, Dr. Horowitz focuses exclusively on Custom Orthotics — including the foot exam, casting, and fitting. For chiropractic adjustments, please see our chiropractic page.
